How to Apply Visa to China

In order to have the best China tour, please apply for your China visa in advance. For travelers planning a China tour, applying for a “tourist visa” is an essential step. Here we will take a closer look at what is involved in applying for a tourist visa.

Requirements for Travel Visas

Foreigners applying for a Chinese tourist visa have a stay period of 30 days, while the visa is valid for 90 days, and these two periods need to be carefully distinguished. Be sure to enter China within the validity period of the visa and make reasonable arrangements upon arrival to go to the local Exit-Entry Administration Bureau to renew the visa.

It is important to note that there is usually a limit to the number of extensions that can be made on a Chinese tourist visa, generally only two extensions are allowed. After the number of extensions is exceeded, no further extensions can be made through the tourist visa.

Visa Application Documents

Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond the visa expiration date and has at least two blank pages. Fill out the visa application form truthfully, including basic personal information, plans and accommodation arrangements during your private China tours. Also submit 2 recent front facing ID photos with white background.

Invitation letter issued by a travel agency with certain qualifications in China, which should contain the name of the invited person, passport number and duration of stay in China. If you had Chinese nationality and later joined a foreign nationality, you will need to provide the original and a copy of your original Chinese passport or original Chinese visa.

Steps for Visa Application

Completing the visa application form online is the first step in applying for a China visa. After preparing all the necessary documents, visit the offline China Visa Center to submit your application. After the application is successfully processed, the staff will provide you with a pending fee payment slip.

The staff will then give you a pick-up slip detailing your application information and the expected date of pick-up. The pick-up slip must be presented to prove your identity when you pick up your passport.

Other Notes

Failure to fill in the visa form truthfully, incomplete visa form, or untrue declaration of the situation will lead to the visa being refused to be accepted. Failure to comply with passport and photo requirements, or failure to provide the appropriate application documents as required by the visa officer may result in visa refusal.

If you apply for a visa too early and the visa expires, or if you are too late to apply for a visa, you will be denied boarding or entry into the country. If the visa is not valid due to your own arrangements or due to a third party, you will not be able to use the visa.
